Talaria are winged sandals, a symbol of the Greek messenger god Hermes. They were said to be made by the god Hephaestus of imperishable gold and they flew the god as swift as any bird.
A girl dressed in Talaria the label is ready for adventure, near and far, real and imagined.
TALARIA THE LABEL
Like many people involved with childrenswear, I am a mum who loves to sew for my little one. Baby/toddler things don’t use up a lot of yardage, so I can splurge on the most beautiful fabrics, utilizing Etsy (instead of winged sandals) to collect treasures from faraway lands. My favourite is Nani Iro fabrics, designed by the Japanese watercolour artist Naomi Ito. The fabric designs are quite literally works of her art.
The debut collection for Talaria is a carefully curated wardrobe of lovely dresses and twirly skirts. Clean, simple lines that let the beautiful fabrics shine through. Natural fabrics that are a pleasure to wear, and easy to clean. Made locally here in Sydney.
